Uniform Allowance

Revenue Allowance Information

  • Yearly allowance is $550 to spend on any combination of revenue uniform items
  • Employees will be eligible to purchase uniform pieces once per year expending their allowance in one (1) total purchase (multiple revenue uniform orders placed by the same employee throughout the year is not permitted unless the employee is making direct payment to the Contractor)
  • It will be the responsibility of the employee to make payment to the Contractor for any allowance difference that exceeds the $550 monetary allowance
  • Employees will not receive any compensation from the Contractor if they have not expended the total monetary allowance of $550 in their revenue uniform order
  • Any monies that are not expended by the employee in one (1) purchase will be forfeited by the employee and will remain with NJ Transit

Yard Allowance Information

  • Yard uniform pieces are available to any conductor regardless of their classification as a 'revenue' employee or 'yard' employee. Employees are eligible to order either revenue uniform pieces or yard uniform pieces in any given year and are prohibited from mix and matching pieces from the uniform sets.

New Hire Allowance Information

  • Newly hired conductors will receive a complete revenue uniform set during their first year of employment, in lieu of receiving a yearly allowance to spend on individual uniform/yard pieces.

A complete revenue uniform set consists of the following:

  • One (1) Blazer
  • Two (2) Trousers
  • One (1) Hat (summer mesh or winter cloth)
  • Two (2) Short Sleeve Shirts
  • Two (2) Long Sleeve Shirts
  • Two (2) Ties
  • One (1) Winter Coat
  • One (1) Softshell Fleece Jacket
  • One (1) of the following (at their choosing): Dress Vest, Cardigan Sweater (Long Sleeve or Vest), or Pullover Sweater (Long Sleeve or Vest)
